I. Instrument Overview:

The intelligent seed measurement system consists of three parts: a 16-megapixel high-resolution document scanner, a backlight device, and a tablet with embedded software. The backlight device uses high-brightness LEDs, and the outer frame is made of aluminum alloy. The software employs advanced image processing technology, and is an embedded software designed based on distance transformation principles, morphology, convex hull detection, and other technologies. This device is mainly used in the field for crop yield measurement and seed measurement in agriculture. Using photos taken by the high-resolution document scanner, the software automatically calculates the number of seeds, seed area, perimeter, length, width, aspect ratio, etc., and automatically calculates the thousand-seed weight based on the weight obtained from the balance and the number of seeds. The results are output in list and graph formats for easy viewing and analysis. This product also allows manual correction of crop seed count to ensure counting accuracy, data saving, and viewing of data reports. Finally, the data can be exported in Excel format or uploaded to the instrument cloud agricultural data center platform system via WiFi for intelligent data statistics and analysis.

II. Applications

The intelligent seed evaluation system can measure the number, weight per thousand/hundred grains, and average grain shape (including length, width, aspect ratio, perimeter, and area) of various smooth-surfaced grains. It utilizes image ORC recognition technology, image positioning, and spatial transformation to quickly identify seed quantity and crop trait indicators.

III. Functional Features

1. The Android system offers advantages such as simplified operation, user-friendly application, intelligence, and upgradeability.
2. Imaging Characteristics: Equipped with a 16-megapixel resolution color high-resolution document scanner with autofocus and an ultra-thin backlight panel, it features automatic correction for camera image distortion and backlight panel uniformity, effectively reducing size measurement errors. Seed diameters analyzed by image capture range from 0.5 to 20 mm. For rice, full and empty grains need to be winnowed and counted separately to determine the rice’s seed setting rate.
3. Counting Accuracy and Target Size: 1-2000 grains/time, counting error ≤ ±0.2%, requiring minimal monitoring and correction to ensure accuracy. Precision error for thousand-grain weight analysis: ≤ ±1 mg;
4. Automatically measures the shape parameters (length, width, aspect ratio, area, perimeter) of each grain in various types of adhered seeds. Measurement error for each size of various seeds ≤ ±0.1 mm.
5. The system includes a record of the tested samples; the sample weight is entered to automatically calculate the thousand-grain weight. The analysis process is automatically controlled by a tablet, offering high efficiency, accuracy, and ease of use, with one-click operation for counting analysis and thousand-grain weight measurement.
6. Data export: Analysis images can be saved, and a summary report is automatically generated. Statistical analysis results can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet.
7. The seed evaluation system has cloud platform support. Data can be uploaded to the cloud platform, and historical data can be retrieved by any time period and seed category. Data such as measurement time, seed quantity, thousand-grain weight, average area, average perimeter, average length, average width, and seed image thumbnails can be viewed. Bar chart analysis of different parameters is possible. Data can be exported in Excel format and printed online. Data can be displayed according to the selected time period, and data analysis is supported in tables, bar charts, etc. Online download and printing are supported.
8. Backlighting: Utilizing high-brightness LEDs powered by a power supply, and aided by a nano-light guide plate and reflective materials, the backlighting is clear, casting no shadows on seeds. The aluminum alloy frame ensures a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing design, preventing deformation.
9. Automatic Updates: The software features online automatic updates. Each system login automatically checks for the latest version, allowing users to choose to update or update at a later time.
