The software can analyze plant root morphology and the overall structural distribution of the root system, making it widely used in root morphology and structure research.

II. Instrument Principles:
The root system analysis system utilizes a high-quality image scanner to acquire high-resolution color or black-and-white images of plant roots. The scanner has a dedicated dual-light source illumination system installed below the scanning panel and in the top cover, and a dual-light source calibration area is reserved on the scanning panel. Selain itu, it is equipped with dedicated, high-transparency root placement trays of different sizes. During scanning, the light source under the scanning panel and the light source in the top cover simultaneously scan the root sample in the high-transparency root tray. This avoids the influence of shadows and unevenness that easily occur during root scanning, effectively ensuring the quality of the acquired images.
This root system analysis software can read images in TIFF and JPEG standard formats. For the acquired images, software with a dongle is used to decrypt and analyze the high-quality root images obtained from scanning. Non-statistical methods are employed to measure and calculate basic morphological parameters such as root length, diameter, area, volume, and root tip of overlapping parts of the root system. This satisfies researchers’ needs for studying different categories and levels of plant roots.
