EDXRF can be used for a variety of elemental analyses. It can be used to measure almost every element in the periodic table from Na to U, with concentrations ranging from a few ppm to close to 100%. It can be used to monitor the main ingredient or 1 minor additive during the production of a product. Due to the wide application of XRF in the geological field, EDXRF instruments are often used together with WDXRF instruments to measure major and minor components in geological samples.

What is the EDXRF Energy Dispersion Spectrometer?

XRF (X-ray fluorescence) is a nondestructive analysis technique used to determine the elemental composition of a material. XRF analyzers determine the chemical properties of a sample by measuring the fluorescent X-rays (or secondary X-rays) emitted by the sample when excited by a primary X-ray source. Each element present in the sample produces a unique set of fluorescent X-rays (” fingerprints “) specific to that particular element, which is why XRF spectroscopy is an excellent technique for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of material composition.
