The fourth edition cancelled and replaced the technically revised third edition (ИСО 2813:1994). It also incorporates ISO 2813:1994 / Кор.1:1997 Техническая коррекция.

The main technological changes are:

а) The title has been changed;

б) The scope has been extended to include gloss measurement of metal coatings;

с) Термин “specular gloss” has been replaced with “блеск”;

д) Gloss value is expressed in gloss unit (ГУ);

е) A new annex on possible sources of error has been added (Annex A);

ж) A new annex on calibration standards has been added (Annex B);

г) A new annex has been added to the glossiness calculation of the main reference standards (Annex C);

час) A new annex on precision details has been added (Annex D);

i) Precision data is the result of large-scale inter-laboratory testing.

1 Диапазон
This international standard specifies methods for determining the gloss of coatings using three geometries of 20°, 60° или 85 °. This method is suitable for the glossiness measurement of non-textured coatings on flat and opaque substrates.

Note that comparative gloss measurements can be made on samples different from the above. For the specified reflection Angle and the specified aperture Angle of the light source and the acceptor, the luminous flux reflected from the specimen is multiplied by the ratio of the luminous flux of 1,567 on a glass surface with a refractive index of 1,567 in the mirror direction to the luminous flux of 587,6 nm in the mirror direction
