LBN-III Drop Rod Viscometer

Falling rod viscometers (also known as Larley viscometers) are commonly used to determine some rheological properties (apparent viscosity, false yield value, shortness, dan lain-lain.) of non-Newtonian fluids such as printing inks (fluids whose viscosity varies with shear rate). It is generally believed that the results of Lalay rod drop test can describe part of the rheological characteristics of ink in the printing process, which is suitable for the actual control of viscosity during ink production, and is often used as the technical requirements for acceptance by buyers and sellers. LBN-III falling rod viscometer is designed and manufactured according to international standard ISO12644:1996 (E) “Printing Technology – Determination of rheological properties of slurry inks and their connection materials by using falling rod viscometer”, its principle is as follows: The apparent viscosity (viscosity value at a shear rate) of the sample is obtained by applying linear regression to measure the time required for the rod to fall through the pores coated with the test sample under different loads, with the help of an appropriate flow model (Carson model, Bingham model or exponential law model). The apparent viscosity obtained from the Larley drop rod test is sometimes called the Larley viscosity, the yield value, and the shortness ratio (often referred to as short).
On the basis of the old type of instrument, the LBN-III falling rod viscometer has added the function of directly displaying the calculation results of exponential law model in the control box. The old instrument control box only shows the falling temperature and falling seconds during the rod drop test, and the calculation of each model is completed by using the computer EXCEL calculation table. For the convenience of users, the new model instrument is improved to complete the model calculation display by the touch screen of the control box.

Operation preparations:
1. Take the instrument out of the box and place it on the workbench to adjust the instrument level.
2. Plug in the signal connector and insert the temperature sensor into the inclined hole of the rod guide sleeve.
3, the constant temperature sink (need to be purchased separately) led out of the two latex pipes are connected with the constant temperature water jacket.
4, turn on the power supply, open the constant temperature sink and the power switch of the instrument control box, the display screen shows the temperature of the current guide sleeve in Celsius, and the time is displayed as 0.00 detik. 5, the laboratory temperature during the entire measurement period should be maintained at 25 ° C ±2 ° C. When the temperature of the guide sleeve reaches the standard of 25 ° C ±0.2 ° C, the measurement can begin.
6. In order to minimize the temperature rise caused by human body temperature during operation, contact with the rod and guide sleeve of the viscometer with bare hands should be avoided. Wear gloves or put a small piece of cotton cloth in your hand when touching the rod and guide sleeve.
