IPXO, IPX1, IPX2, IPX3, and IPX4 appliances shall be subjected to the following splash test for 5min using the device shown in Figure 101. During the test, the water pressure should be adjusted so that the water splashes 150mm from the bottom of the bowl. For utensils normally used on the ground, the bowl is placed on the ground. For all other appliances, the bowl is placed on a horizontal supporting surface 50mm below the lowest side of the appliance to move the bowl around the appliance so that water can splash onto the appliance from all directions. Care should be taken not to spray water directly into the appliance.
