Determination of lead and cadmium in gold jewelry alloys by X-ray fluorescence spectrometer EDX8000 Max

X-ray fluorescence spectrometer EDX8000 Max was used to detect iridium in gold jewelry alloy. The working standard samples of different gold alloy types were purchased, and the blank working standard samples of gold alloy were tested on the dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer respectively, and the detection limit of iridium was obtained. Under the same conditions, the iridium content of all kinds of gold alloy samples was analyzed and tested, and the detection value was obtained. Combined with the detection limit of the instrument, the correction coefficient of the detection value is evaluated, and the determination results are given. The results are compared with the results of ICP verification experiment. It proves that XRF method can be used to identify the fake and shoddy products with iridium added to the fake gold.
