For ships operating outside designated emission control areas, the IMO limits the amount of sulphur in fuel oil used on board to 0.50%m/m (маса) from 1 January 2020. Test procedures and calibration demonstrations

1-1, prepare the sample cup. Cover the sample cup with a 6 um Mylar film on the analysis side. The same Mylar film is also pre-set on the protective test window platform to avoid any accidental sample leakage into the analyzer.

1-2, usually pour 3-5 ml of oil from each standard into the analyzer’s cup up to the filling line.

1-3, place the sample cup on the Compass XRF sample loader, which fits the sample cup size perfectly.

1-4, click the “Start” button to run the analysis. The result will be displayed after 130 secondsUse a set of commercially available heavy fuel oil standards with known sulfur concentrations for calibration.
